wood x's

BK was out chopping wood at Brad's house and came across a log that was too (too too) good to chop into pieces. So we worked with it for some photos. Taken 6.03.09
I guess Tay Tay found it and thought he was the first to have discovered it - but that was a grave error on his part. Very grave.
(These posts are not in order from when they actually happened. They are in the order of when I choose to post them.)

Photo Contest

This is my first entry in the PDI (workplace) monthly photo contest.
Each person involved had to provide three ideas for the theme which was then drawn by a neutral party.
The theme to this one was "Livin' the Dream".
It was my idea.
PS I got 2nd place out of 7.
Don Crossman won with a photo which I will have to get from him and post here^
It isn't perfectly what I had in my mind-but it's a start.
I was thinking about the posters from Star Wars
and also the DVD covers from The Venture Bros.
HERE'S SOMETHING FUN:
try to find my beard in the photo!
The next contest is tomorrow! I forgot until tonight
but I have something up my short sleeve.

I like bushes (beards, you pervs) and am trying to grow one.
it's not going to look like a beard for a while though.
So i will look like just another half-asser.

Today I decided to put images that Dan Ciskey took of me while we shot a Wedding.

Here I am trusting my camera in the hands of an infant.

Here I am influencing the Bride.

Here I am not trusting the infant with my camera anymore.

Like my Tie?
Here are the shots the infant took:
this one is burned 300% in my face.

this one is the original untouched infantile-taken photo:

Relapse
Have I decided to quit smoking?
I do not know.
Yesterday, I said I quit, but then proceded to smoke butts from an ash-tray
to subside my fix.
Today I feel like doing the same thing, but maybe without the disease all over the filter.
Which means I am seriously considering buying a whole fucking carton of my favorite "Camel Lights".
What a fucked-up addiction this is!
or maybe I am fucked up!
(a little bit o both please).

What a World!
There, there.
Now, now.

AURORA | Suburb might make hosts rent porta-potties
June 23, 2007
BY KRISTEN ZAMBO Beacon News
Lawns in Aurora still are used as outdoor restrooms months after public urination was outlawed.
While some aldermen in the far west suburb said the incidence has dropped to a trickle since the practice was outlawed, one aldermen says she constantly receives complaints about partygoers urinating in public.
"I receive calls every single weekend," said Ald. Juany Garza.
The city council adopted a public urination and defecation ban last December. But Garza said she called Aurora police about two weeks ago, at 4:30 a.m., because she received three calls at home from neighbors about partygoers urinating outside.
"Next to my house last year every single weekend, they have a party. The people don't rent a portable toilet," said Garza, whose ward covers the near east side, downtown and part of the near west side. "When they start drinking they start going pee all over . . . they have no respect."
Garza and Ald. Scheketa Hart-Burns have teamed to explore whether the city may require residents hosting large parties to rent portable toilets.
"We probably need a few weeks to really look if other communities have enacted something similar, and see what remedies there might be under the law," city spokesman Carie Ann Ergo said.

Dexter
Yes, it is time for the old break-dancing photos I borrowed from Wolf Camera whence I once worked (in this case, I stole them).
I was looking through the trash (as I usually did) and found these 3x5's of a junior high dance and saw some kid on the dirty-ass Jefferson gym floor.
Lo-and-Behold, it was Dexter, younger brother of Luis Torres, a skater and musician friend from High School.
Dexter also skated and played music, that's how I knew-est him.
I think I was in a band with him and Luis and Anthony once also,
but they said I never called them afterwards so it was my fault we dis-banded...
Good Times.
Good Times.
I guess he could break-dance, which I didn't know until I stumbled through the garbage,
but I always learned truth from garbage-picking.
Garbage-Picking: an ancient truth revealer.
Lesson Learnt.

So I had to go to my storage space and search through all my photo shit
'cause some fucking kid I don't ever remember meeting pushed me to find them.
(of course I wanted to also, otherwise I'd say "fuck you buddy")
but thanks fucking kid I don't ever remember meeting,
'cause you made me to relinquish my memories of olden.
oh internet, what will you bring upon me next?

Songs About Camping
Victor calls me up Friday night and tells me he's going camping,
which I heard about a few weeks ago.
He says he's leaving in a few hours.
I'm like "WHAT!?!
I can't make that!"
So I hitch a ride with Reneè on Saturday.
3 hours later, along with a few detours of lostness
we get there where 13 others or so are. + 29 cameras.
we eat food, drink, drink, shotgun beer, etc.
then it rains and we all congregate in a tent. STANDING ONLY.
it stops raining and we go to one of the sites
and have a dance party, with music provided from our mouths.
Then we drink some more and then
OUT OF NOWHERE
Park Rangers arrive.
They heard us across the park.
So we get busted, mostly because one kid is underage.
$250 ticket.
We don't get tickets (which would be $501 per ticket)
but we get evicted.
By 7AM. we have to get out.
There there.
Now now.

There's Always Enough

Still playing with this new AWESOME camera.
The thing I DON'T like about it is:
the time spent editing.
I can take hundreds of photos without even thinking.
But then I have to look through ALL of them.
Live and Learn!
There, there.
Now, now.
I'll get used to it.

Righteous D-Bird

I got a Canon 30D. It feels so weird. I don't have to wait as long to see my shots. It feels . . . almost TOO easy . . .
Aurora Snowglobe! Fitting!

Coffee Table Monkey Bandit Covers Face of Silly Model.

I found this in a trailer at the Gravel Pit. Now I play sometimes.

The Drums.

Precious Drums.

This took a Fourth (1/4!) of the time it takes me to shoot, process, WAIT, correct and post FILM. (I am slow)
Granted, I did no corrections to these, but still!!!
My Point Being:
Even though the Digital is NICE, I gotta say: FUCK DIGITAL!!! FILM FOR LIFE!!!

Just to Do It. (for the #@$& of it)

I was using me old Canon AE-1 the other day with a roll of Walgreen's 100 ISO color film
just to "sketch" or rather to "take pictures".
"For the Hell of It" as peo-pole say.
I had nothing partcular in mind whilst shooting.
Also because my "best" camera was held hostage by terrorists.
Don't worry, it is gladly safe now.
The terrorists are thinking about what they have done as I taught them a lesson.

Lesson Learnt!

one way street

so as the title of this blog goes, I am on that one way street.
I don't feel that I can go any other direction than the one I have begun.
Art. and Photography. Peace.
I keep going through work and taking my time to make it purrrrrrrfect.
AIM is a bad idea when doing your own work. I cannot get many damn things done.
It might be okay if I was getting paid while chatting, like many of my friends,
but right now, I am on my own clock. BooYaa.

dude man. man dude.

I am trying to do one million things at once whilst trying to do another one million things at twice.
I have no $money$ job (don't tell my dad)
But the thing is: I can right now
and when else in my life could I do this?
I have no family to support and very little expenses.
"Fuck Work" as my good friend BK always says.
but BK is still working his shit job, whilst I play all day.
Am working on images of mine for new projects.

this is from Carlyle, IL where my Grandparents live.
This is gonna be a pretty big project, seeing as how I have one million negatives from there.
now you know
and as G.I.Joe says,
"knowing is half the battle".
peace.
